All bedroom and bathroom linen is provided. You will need to take your own beach towels to use around the pool or at the beach.
A maid service can be arranged during your stay. The official time for entry to the Villa is 16:00. If you arrive before this you are welcome to use the outside facilities, eg. pool and sun beds but will not be able to get into the villa until it has been cleaned. Please remember that previous guests will still be in residence before 10:00 so no entry to the villa or its outside facilities will be allowed before that time.
Details of how you collect the keys to the villa will be sent to you 14 days before the start of your holiday.
The villa has an ironing board and iron for guest use. Electric power supply is same as the UK, 240v, 50 cycle, with standard UK 3 pin sockets, so no need to bring any plug adaptors with you.
Villa Maniola has a gas hob which is supplied by bottled gas, located in the cupboard under the hob. It is always worthwhile double checking that is has been turned off and as an extra precaution turn the supply off at the bottle neck when it is not in use. Seek the help of our local agent if you have any concerns about gas.
The swimming pool has a shallow end of approx. 1.5m and a deep end of 2.2m. Please ensure that children are supervised at all times around the pool. Diving is not permitted in the swimming pool. Take care when walking around the pool, as pool surrounds are often slippery when wet. You should not enter the pool after drinking alcohol. Also, please do not take glassware down to the pool terrace.
The local people are very friendly and helpful with English being widely spoken.
The water from the taps is safe to drink when boiled, but we recommend purchasing bottled water which is freely available in the local supermarkets.
Cost of Living
Cost of living is low and most food stuffs are available. Many European brands are available but are typically more expensive than local brands. Local brands offer many alternatives, but some of their labels may need a bit of reading! All supermarkets stock long life milk which is reasonably palatable. Fresh milk is available but only at certain supermarkets. The nearest supermarkets to the Villa are Tempo in Karaoglanaoglu, 5 mins by car and Lemar, 10 mins by car.
Car hire costs from around £15 per day. Standard UK driving licenses are fine. You do not have to have the new type with photo ID. Driving is the same as the UK, on the left. If you arrange to have the car delivered to the airport make sure it is to Ercan if flying into N Cyprus. If you fly to Larnaca then the car hire company will arrange for you to be collected by Taxi and taken through the border. A link to our favourite Car hire company is included below:
Sun Rent a Car
Arrival at the Airport
Ercan airport is about 40 minutes drive away. Most car hire companies will pick you up from the airport. (or deliver the car to the airport), if you are hiring a car for more than 3 days. Otherwise there are usually plenty of taxis waiting at the airport. Alternatively, you can fly into Larnaca and then get a taxi to the villa. The car hire companies will then deliver the hire cars directly to the villa.

There are good modern medical facilities in North Cyprus. Emergency casualties are dealt with free, but secondary care is charged for. It is important to have adequate medical travel insurance. If you require regular prescriptions then take a note from your Doctor, or a copy of the prescription. Most common medicines etc are readily available through local pharmacies.
Turkish Lira is the legal tender in the Northern Cyprus but all major currencies can easily be exchanged at banks, (plenty of ATMs, cash dispensers, with instructions in English), exchange bureaus or even at restaurants. All major credit cards are accepted (such as Access, Eurocard, Mastercard, Visa, Diner's Club, etc...).
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is not a member of the European Union, (EU). Customs limitations are that of a non-EU country. At the moment only the South of the island is a member of the EU. It joined the EU in April 2004.
